Discipleship
Culture and Character
Heritage Christian School is committed to creating a school culture where everyone – children, students, staff, parents and the community – feels welcome, safe and respected.
As a Christian school community, we want our behaviour and conduct to be guided by Jesus’ command to love God above all and our neighbours as ourselves.
It is very important that each student at Heritage treat others at the school, including students, teachers, staff, and parents, with consideration and respect, as outlined in our Student Code of Conduct.
To help us reach our goal of creating a safe and supportive school culture, several of our teachers have completed training in “The Responsive Classroom” approach to teaching.
This evidence-based approach to elementary education integrates social-emotional learning with academic instruction to create a positive, engaging classroom environment.
Discipline issues are reduced, student achievement is boosted, and a joyful, inclusive classroom community is fostered by using proactive strategies including morning meetings, collaborative rule creation, interactive modelling, logical consequences, academic choice and more.
I feel Heritage has prepared me for high school in many ways. I’m able to navigate and organize schoolwork efficiently and hand in completed assignments on time every day. I also feel equipped to make positive choices and am grateful for the strong foundation Heritage has given me.
